How Rahul Ghodeswar Bridged Service to Core Product Roles
With nearly two decades of IT and product operations experience, I worked mostly in service firms without exposure to core product innovation or ownership. Based in a smaller Indian city, I chose to leave big metros behind and sought meaningful remote-first product roles aligned with my expertise and values
I joined Interview Kickstart to regain confidence, formalize knowledge informally learned over years, and break the invisible barrier from core product roles. Key goals included bridging skill gaps, gaining structured mentorship, and mastering product fundamentals for interviews.
Initially, the engineering-heavy curriculum was intimidating, but flexibility helped me focus on business-side PM skills. Life and work delays were eased by IK’s generous support extensions. My mock interviews fell short but I learned to proactively seek better alignment and more sessions.
Though I haven’t switched jobs yet, I gained stronger PM fundamentals, mentor junior PMs, and gained confidence in product interviews. I learned to approach product problems from business and user angles, applying these daily.
Stay consistent with daily bite-sized learning, be proactive in scheduling customized mock interviews, use tools like Careerflow.ai for job search, and request support extensions as needed. Prioritize quality of life by seeking remote roles that align with personal values.
