I started my career with L&T Infotech, working for the Motorola ODC as a developer through campus placement in 2006, and after almost two years there, I joined Samsung as a developer in the mobile domain when Samsung was just starting off and building teams. I worked nearly seven years as a developer on front end and middle layer, on many modules like My Files, camera, video, Bluetooth and many more, and around 2011 my Indian MD requested me to move into the TPM role because I used to talk a lot, had good negotiation skills, and could communicate well, so I transitioned from developer to TPM. As a TPM, I was responsible for end‑to‑end execution of the project, from planning till delivery in the market, until we got a final go‑green from the customer, and by then I was PMP certified, PMI‑ACP certified, CSM certified, had three international publications, and I was M.Tech with DTU, along with extensive TPM experience at Samsung.
I realized I needed to go into a different domain because I had good learning of the mobile domain and had worked well from a program and project management point of view. I applied for five to six months based on free learnings on YouTube and did not get even a call, so I knew there was some gap that needed to be filled. I started my search around November 2022 and in January I got to know about IK and that IK is specifically offering a TPM course. I knew I’m good, but there was some gap, and I was looking for someone who is already working with the companies I dream of, who can tell me what the gap is and how to fill that gap. I went through the curriculum and the job descriptions of the companies I was targeting and found a match between what companies ask and what IK is giving, so I decided to join IK, and even if I did not get the offer, at least I would be a better version of myself and get feedback which no one else could give me for preparing for interviews for specific MAANG companies
First, my first company was a service‑based company, and many people think that if you are in a service‑based company you cannot go into a product‑based company, which is a blocker we should remove. I was already in a product‑based company but had to convince myself that I can target a MAANG company and something very difficult, and in general there are two fights: first is getting a call from a good company with a good resume, and second is clearing the interview. I thought my resume was very good but was not getting calls, so mentors at IK told me what to improve, I worked on more research publications, did a cloud certification to scale up, and went from three international publications to seven. On interviews, IK mentors suggested I should only give interviews for companies more difficult than where I am, so I used to get interviewed, get rejected, come back to IK mentors, get feedback, and repeat, and with those failures and learnings I finally got the offer letter. When I decided to switch, I was very consistent that come what may I have to do it I did not want to settle for something ordinary, I wanted to be in that few percentage who join MAANG and I believe failures and negative feedbacks are your best friends in the corporate world; learn from your failures, understand what is good and bad, and minutely work on it.
I am working as a Senior TPM with Microsoft now, and it’s been one year. I am into firmware technology in AI cloud infrastructure. Post IK, my journey went really well; I got very one‑on‑one personalized teachings and mentorship from mentors who are already sitting in these companies, and I started getting calls. After getting interviewed, being rejected, and repeatedly working with IK mentors, I finally got the offer letter and landed my dream offer.
“First thing: take decision and be stick to it; take decision, be stick to it.”
“There is nothing wrong in taking a calculated risk; till the time we will not take risk, we will keep settling for something very ordinary.”
“In your journey, wherever your dream job is, whosoever is genuinely helping you and making you skilled, please hold that thing and work hard.”
“If you decide, please don’t revert; many times you feel like going back because it’s not easy, but it’s not impossible.”
“It’s just a matter that we decide, and our decision makes our destiny.”
