After over 15 years in tech, I’ve led platforms and engineering teams at companies like Adobe, Cisco, and Kronos across industrial tech, security, and creative cloud domains. As a senior engineering leader, I had managed large teams and complex platforms, but I wanted to break into top product companies and FAANG‑level leadership roles. I knew my experience was valuable; what I lacked was a clear strategy to position it for high‑stakes Director and Senior Manager interviews.
My main goal in joining Interview Kickstart India was structure. I wanted a disciplined system for Director‑level interview preparation: understanding levels, researching company expectations, and structuring my technical and leadership narratives. Between a full‑time leadership role at Adobe, parenting two energetic boys, and relocating to India, I needed a proven framework to turn years of experience into focused, high‑impact interview performance instead of scattered, self‑guided prep.
The biggest obstacle was mental load—balancing a demanding job, family responsibilities, and intensive FAANG‑style interview preparation. I often had to plan sessions around summer holidays, jump between rooms so I wouldn’t wake my kids, and still stay sharp for system design and leadership interviews. What helped was treating prep like a project: following Interview Kickstart’s structured curriculum, using the platform’s depth and community, and leveraging mock interviews with panelists from my target companies to refine my architecture trade‑off explanations and technical storytelling.
With Interview Kickstart’s structured support, I was able to overcome the overwhelm, sharpen how I presented my 20‑year journey, and align my stories with current business needs. As a result, I received offers from Amazon, Oracle, and Visa for Director and Senior Manager roles after a series of rigorous interviews. I ultimately chose Amazon, turning this journey into a concrete Interview Kickstart India success story for senior engineering leadership transitions.
My biggest advice is: don’t wait to “finish” the content before you start applying what you learn. Once you’ve covered even 30–40% of the material, start scheduling mock interviews, specify topics in advance, and chase feedback aggressively. Treat every mock as practice for thinking out loud, explaining your reasoning clearly, and growing into the Director or Senior Manager role you’re targeting, not just passing an exam. Be patient and intentional at this level, growth comes from iteration and structured feedback, not last‑minute cramming.
