Can you tell us a little bit about your background?

With close to 20 years of experience in the technology sector, I started my journey as a Java developer at Cognizant. Over the years, I took on diverse roles: lead, release manager, technical program manager and even worked internationally in the US as an on-site coordinator and resource manager. After returning to India, I continued my growth, embracing new technologies like Salesforce and eventually joining Mastercard, where I’ve spent six successful years as a Technical Program Manager, leading complex projects and teams across functions. Despite these achievements, I realized that breaking into top-tier organizations and advancing further required more than just work experience. I needed modern technical skills, a strategic resume, and a new perspective on interviews which led me to Interview Kickstart (IK).

What were your goals coming into IK?

When I joined IK, my primary goal was to transition into elite, product-driven companies. I was confident in my technical and management abilities but knew that top companies like Amazon, INIT, or WBD had a very different interview process and expectations. Specifically, I aimed to:

The biggest hurdle was getting my resume shortlisted. My old resume format, built for internal clients, was outdated and not aligned with the expectations of top global recruiters. Even after hiring professional resume writers, I found that real, substantive content was lacking. IK helped me reshape my approach and shift to an industry-standard resume that truly reflected my abilities.
Another major obstacle was interview self-presentation. I struggled to communicate the real impact of my work, often playing down my achievements or not structuring my answers effectively. The behavioral sessions at IK, especially with mentors like Pradeep, taught me to communicate strategically, structure responses for maximum impact, and highlight key contributions.
Time management and motivation were also challenges, especially while handling a demanding job and new family responsibilities. I overcame these by leveraging IK’s flexible learning system, using weekends and daily time blocks, and staying disciplined in my schedule.
Perhaps most importantly, mock interviews and Expert Connect sessions at IK provided invaluable, honest feedback. This gave me insights into my blind spots and areas for improvement, helping me become more interview-ready and confident.
